Books, Books, & more Books

The kids had parent teacher conference this week and they both did outstanding. During Boston's conference he was given an assignment by his teacher for a book report. He was pretty excited about this book report. So after the pt conference we went to the book fair at the school. Both the kids got a few books and we went home. Friday morning Boston was up at 6:00 a.m. reading his book. He read this Beast Quest book until about 11:00 and finished it. It was a chapter book with about 90 pages so it was a suitable choice for the book report.

Boston immediately started the book report and hounded me about going to the store to buy supplies for his poster or diorama he wanted to go along with it.
Boston is so funny. When he gets something in his head he is bound and determined to finish it. He reminds me of both of his grandfathers. My dad gets restless if he is thinking of something he wants to get done. Mikes's Dad was the same way, we used to tease him that everything had to be done by the numbers (meaning Dino's way or no way).

Saturday Boston and Brooke got a wild idea that they wanted to have a book sale with books they no longer were interested in. They carefully selected the ones they would want to sell. Then they decided on an appropriate price for each item and marked it with a sticky note. Saturday morning at 9:00a.m. was the time they decided to display the books in the yard and start the sale.

They waited and waited. And waited. Played in my flower bed. And waited some more. Then they came into the house and decided if someone was going to come they could ring the door bell so they did not need to tend the book sale.

Finally at about 11:oo a lady came to deliver some girl scout cookies I had ordered and she bought a book for $3.oo. Boston then had a new determination to tend to the store outside. After about another hour I found him reading these books he was going to sell. Now Brooke could have gone about her day without even a thought of the venture she had started in the front yard. Not Boston though he was practically chased the cars down as they drove by the house.

Not another customer all day--Boston was a little disappointed! Mike and I decided we would buy the rest of the books and then send them to charity, as we no longer have a need for them.

I figure he did go thru all the work and get rid of some of the stuff cluttering his room. He does like to collect and hold on to things. So he was happy with that agreement.

So that is what we have been up to. Have a great day.
